LONDON – The UK’s Charity Commission is assessing concerns raised about the environmental charity, Science Based Targets Initiative (SBTI), following a complaint from a former employee.
Last month, a former employee of SBTI contacted the Commission, alleging the SBTi was acting contrary to its mission, as reported by Reuters. The complaint accuses trustees of SBTI, whose guidance is used by major companies to set their net-zero goals, of acting “recklessly” by planning to allow companies to use carbon credits to offset their greenhouse gas emissions.
