PHNOM PENH – Cambodia’s garment industry has urged international buyers to honour purchasing contracts and fulfil obligations by taking delivery and paying for goods already produced and in production. The Garment Manufacturers Association in Cambodia (GMAC) said the livelihoods of millions of Cambodian workers and the survival of factories in the kingdom were dependent upon brands honouring existing commitments.
GMAC used an open letter to point out that manufacturers (factories) operate on razor-thin margins and have much less ability to shoulder the current crisis compared to their customers (buyers).
