LONDON – Almost a fifth of the world’s cotton is produced in line with Better Cotton principles and criteria by licensed BCI Farmers, according to the latest BCI annual report. The report shows BCI members including H&M, IKEA, Gap, adidas and Nike sourced record levels of Better Cotton in the 2017/18 season – one million metric tonnes -representing a 45 per cent increase on the previous season. In the 2017-18 cotton season, together with 69 on-the-ground partners, BCI provided training on sustainable agricultural practices to more than two million cotton farmers in 21 countries.
