LONDON – Better Cotton says monsoon floods have hit thousands of its licensed growers across Punjab’s key cotton districts. In an update shared this week, the organisation said inundation is expected to continue into October, with more than 22,000 hectares of farmland already affected.
It added that, while over 80 per cent of its licensed farmers have not been impacted to date and a further 10 per cent have seen only limited disruption, more than 13,500 licensed farmers in Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar and Khanewal have been “significantly impacted.” Better Cotton licensed almost 230,000 cotton farmers across Punjab for the 2025/26 season.
