TREVISO – Benetton has become the world’s first global apparel retailer to say it is producing less clothing while increasing quality as part of its sustainability strategy. “During the year, we have reduced the volume of production and increased the quality of our garments and materials,” said the company, in one of the most ambitious sustainability reports we have seen from the apparel industry. “This decision – which has a clear impact on the Benetton Group’s carbon footprint – is a response to the need to make consumers buy fewer garments, which will last for a longer time.”
