Banned PFAS chemicals found in outdoor clothing

LONDON – Potentially toxic “forever chemicals” were found in a wide range of outdoor apparel items tested by US researchers. Of 20 outdoor garments tested, the study claims perfluoroalkyl and polyfluoroalkyl substances, also known as PFAS, were detected in 15. Of more concern is that many items contained older PFAS chemicals which have been banned in Europe and phased out by major US manufacturers.
