Avalo begins harvest of first AI-bred cotton

TEXAS – Avalo, a US-based agtech startup, has begun harvesting its first commercial crop of “low-carbon” cotton, bred using artificial intelligence. Grown on roughly 2,000 acres in the Texas Panhandle and entirely rainfed, the company claims the crop required about 70 per cent less fertiliser than conventional cotton.
