SYDNEY – The Hon. Tanya Plibersek, Minister for Environment and Water, this week announced the official launch of Australia’s clothing product stewardship scheme, Seamless. The scheme tackles the issue of clothing waste, with over 200,000 tonnes annually ending up in Australian landfills.
Starting in July, Australians will be able to choose and support responsible fashion brands through the Seamless scheme. The scheme’s foundation members—BIG W, Cotton On, David Jones, Lorna Jane, Rip Curl, R.M.Williams, Sussan Group, and THE ICONIC—have helped designing its operational model over the past year.
