NEW YORK – 38 companies in the global apparel and textile industries have ‘committed’ to setting Science-Based Targets – but only 11 of these have actually gone on to set targets so far. Research by Apparel Insider found a number of signatories to the SBT initiative only have a few months to set targets or face being removed from the initiative – although extensions can be granted in certain circumstances. Among stragglers are Eileen Fisher and Guess? which – with much fanfare – committed to setting targets back in September 2017, and Bestseller which committed to setting targets in December 2018.

‘Committed’ companies have 24 months to submit targets to the SBTi for validation.
