AMSTERDAM – Fashion for Good is working with a number of leading brands to pilot pioneering wastewater treatment technology in textile supply chains. What is claimed to be a game-changing wastewater treatment system has been developed by start-up SeaChange Technologies.
Arvind Limited provided access to its Effluent Treatment Plant (ETP) near Gujarat, India, one the world’s largest textile manufacturing operations, to conduct a field evaluation of the technology of SeaChange Technologies, while brand partners include Bestseller, PVH and C&A. The goal was to test the feasibility of the technology at scale.
The mechanical system developed by SeaChange sees wastewater or sludge heated, pressurised and injected as an aerosol into a cyclonic separator. This single-step process uses the cyclonic separation technique to draw out unwanted materials, microplastics and other non-biodegradable components from the water itself.
