STOCKHOLM – A new study has questioned the assumption that chemical textile recycling automatically means lower carbon emissions. Researchers looked at two emerging methods for recycling polyester-elastane sportswear and found that, under the conditions they modelled, both produced more greenhouse gas emissions than the conventional approach.
