PARIS – France’s data watchdog has fined Shein €150m for unlawfully placing advertising cookies on users’ devices. This is the biggest European privacy sanction yet levelled at the ultra-fast fashion group. The decision by the CNIL lands amid mounting regulatory pressure on Shein across Europe and the US. The company says it will appeal, calling the sanction “wholly disproportionate.”
