DHAKA – 300 Engineers from different apparel manufacturing units will join the 2nd Bangladesh Climate Action Forum on 10 October. The workshops will be facilitated by industry-leading organisations, including Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, Illukkumbura Industrial Automation (Pvt) Ltd., Armstrong Fluid Technology, Epic Group, Jinko Solar Co., Ltd., and Forbes Marshall. Each organisation will offer expertise in sustainability, energy optimisation, and green technologies, the aim being to ensure attendees leave with actionable strategies to apply in their operations.
The 2nd Bangladesh Climate Action Forum is organised by Bangladesh Apparel Exchange (BAE) and supported by an array of international organisations. It aims to offer a blueprint for how fashion supply chains worldwide can tackle carbon emissions. Over 450 participants, 42 speakers, and contributions from key industry figures and policymakers will be present.
The forum brings together Bangladesh’s Ministries of Environment, Foreign Affairs, Power, and Energy, as well as embassies from Denmark, Germany, Sweden, and France. The European Commission and major international institutions like USAID, Oxfam, Cornell University, and the Laudes Foundation are also playing a critical role.
This year’s theme, “Fashion: Driving Collective Climate Action,” focuses on the growing need for coordinated efforts in decarbonisation and climate resilience. The forum will showcase cutting-edge technologies and innovations that could cut carbon emissions by up to 50 per cent across supply chains—making it one of the most ambitious climate events in recent memory.
Through keynote speeches, workshops, panel discussions, and presentations, the event will tackle critical issues such as decarbonisation pathways, climate adaptation, and funding mechanisms for sustainable transformation.
Mostafiz Uddin, founder of the Bangladesh Apparel Exchange, noted: “Achieving a net-zero carbon future is not just a necessity, it’s an urgent responsibility. We must align our industries, particularly the fashion and apparel sector, with sustainable practices that not only reduce carbon emissions but also build resilience for the future.”
Highlighting the global importance of this event, the Bangladesh Climate Action Forum will feature contributions from high-profile figures such as Dr. M. Fouzul Kabir Khan, adviser to the Ministry of Power, Energy, and Mineral Resources, and Syeda Rizwana Hasan, adviser to the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. International guests of honor will include Michael Miller, the Ambassador and Head of Delegation of the European Union to Bangladesh, and Achim Tröster, Ambassador of Germany to Bangladesh, further emphasizing the forum’s far-reaching influence.
In addition to policy discussions, the forum will also launch two major new initiatives: the Better Mills Initiative and the OnetrueSOLar Fund. These programmes aim to catalyze the adoption of low-carbon and renewable energy solutions across the fashion sector, setting an example for industries around the world.
