SHANGHAI – Chinese viscose staple fibre manufacturer, Sateri, has earned the prestigious Bio-based Product Label from the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for its VSF range for textile and nonwoven products. The certification proves Sateri’s products are 100 per cent bio-based and that their materials are sourced entirely from plant products.

Bio-based products are materials whose content is made in whole or in significant part from renewable agricultural, marine or forestry ingredients. Sateri’s VSF is made from renewable wood cellulose.

“We are proud that Sateri is one of the first few producers in the viscose fibre industry to have our products formally recognised by the USDA,” said Ben Poon, Sateri’s senior vice president-commercial.

“This recognition underscores our commitment to produce viscose staple fibre in a sustainable manner, from responsible raw material sourcing to responsible product manufacturing, and help our customers and their clients to meet the market’s increasing preference for renewable and sustainable products.”

“We applaud Sateri for earning the USDA Certified Biobased Product label,” said Kate Lewis of USDA BioPreferred Programme. “Products from Sateri are contributing to an ever-expanding marketplace that adds value to renewable agriculture commodities, creates jobs in rural communities, and decreases our reliance on petroleum.”

Sateri’s products are also certified to the Swiss-based STANDARD 100 by Oeko-Tex.
