Kuura fibre promises lower emissions than traditional viscose

HELSINKI – Finnish forest industry conglomerate Metsä Group has begun pre-engineering for the first commercial textile fibre mill for the industrial production of Kuura fibre. This phase, expected to continue until summer 2026, will focus on process development, market entry, financing, and obtaining necessary environmental permits. The fibre, produced from softwood pulp sourced from Finnish forests, is part of Metsä Group’s strategy to create high-value wood-based products.
