Carbios rejects claims by former exec and files criminal complaint

PARIS – French biotechnology firm Carbios has rejected allegations by a former executive and filed a criminal complaint for what it says are false accusations.

The company said it has been targeted by a “destabilisation campaign” in recent months and formally disputes all claims made against the business and its management. In response, Carbios has filed a complaint with the public prosecutor at the Lyon Judicial Court alleging “slanderous denunciation.”

Carbios is developing an enzymatic recycling technology designed to break down polyester textiles into their original chemical building blocks. Using engineered enzymes, the process depolymerises PET fibres from garments and textile waste, allowing them to be purified and repolymerised into new polyester with, the company claims, virgin-equivalent quality.
