BREMEN – Price premiums for organic cotton from India and Turkey are running at more than 60 per cent over conventional due to demand-supply dynamics. The latest briefing by the Bremen Cotton Report suggests demand for organic cotton continues to grow in the fashion industry but supply is struggling to keep pace, causing spikes in prices.

Prices for organic cotton currently range between US$1.65-1.70 /lb for Indian organic cotton and US$1.85 – 1.90/lb for Turkish organic cotton, according to the Bremen Cotton Report, and there is been a 20-fold increase in price premiums over conventional in the last year.
