GREENSBORO – The Wrangler brand has launched the first denim apparel collection dyed using foam dyeing, a groundbreaking technique which eliminates 99.99 per cent of water from the denim dyeing process. The new technology radically shortens the production steps needed to dye indigo yarns, replacing the traditional water vats and chemical baths of conventional indigo dyeing, and bringing about a major reduction in overall environmental impact. The process, owned by Indigo Mill Designs, has attracted early stage investment from Wrangler and Lee, as well as the Walmart Foundation. The new dyeing process also reduces energy use and waste by more than 60 percent compared to conventional denim dyeing.
