US brands lag on phasing out toxic chemicals

WASHINGTON – A new report has ranked 30 US outdoor clothing and fashion retailers on their progress in phasing out PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances), often referred to as ‘forever chemicals’. Levi Strauss & Co., Victoria’s Secret, and Decker Brands are claimed to be leading the industry with strong PFAS elimination policies. However, Walmart, Wolverine, Macy’s, and Skechers were found to have weak commitments, while many outdoor brands were also said to be lagging.
