WASHINGTON – The US Select Committee on the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) this week wrote to the CEOs of Nike, Adidas, Shein and Temu asking about forced labor and banned cotton products in their supply chains. The committee has launched a bipartisan investigation into the complicity of US businesses in forced labour and and the oppression of China’s Uyghur population.
A source close to the committee told Apparel Insider: “American businesses and investors have a moral and legal obligation to ensure they are not implicating themselves, their customers or their shareholders in forced labour.”
