LONDON – The UK Government’s Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Committee has written to leading apparel brands including H&M, Gap, Zara, Nike, Puma and Stella McCartney as part of its inquiry into which businesses in the UK are exploiting Uyghur forced labour in the Xinjiang region of China.
The Committee’s request for information also includes an invitation to give evidence at the BEIS Committee’s public hearing on 5 November. The letters include questions around supply-chain transparency and regarding evidence of compliance with labour, procurement and anti-slavery laws.
