HERISAU – AG Cilander, a luxury Swiss fabric manufacturer which supplies many of the world’s luxury fashion brands, is facing closure, blaming declining orders and a steep rise in raw material and energy prices. The 210-year-old company develops fabrics for a range of industries, including fashion, and exports them to more than 80 countries globally.
The company has begun a consultation process in line with Swiss law, with a final decision expected by the end of February. The closure of production at all three of its sites would happen by the end of August 2024 at the latest.
