COPENHAGEN – Copenhagen Fashion Summit has been criticised for sugar-coating the dire environmental issues faced by the global fashion sector. In a strongly worded statement, the Union of Concerned Researchers in Fashion highlights the, “paradoxical or even misleading use of language in describing ‘sustainable fashion,’” by the promotion for the event, which takes place next week. The union also encourages delegates to pay attention to terms such as ‘sustainable growth’, which, it suggests in, “almost all cases is an oxymoron.”
