JYVÄSKYLÄ – Finnish tech business, Spinnova, which makes textile fibres from wood and agricultural waste streams, claims its first commercial factory has a “positive climate impact.” The business commissioned external climate consultants to assess its Finnish factory. According to their report, Spinnova fibre’s carbon footprint is 72 per cent lower than conventional cotton, although what baseline was being for conventional cotton is unclear.

Spinnova recently launched its first global commercial product with adidas, while ARKET this week became the first H&M Group brand to release a Spinnova garment, although the men’s overshirt was made using just 18 per cent Spinnova fibre, the rest being standard cotton.
