NEW YORK – A coalition of 20 human rights, labour and fashion sustainability organisations have proposed a set of amendments to strengthen the New York’s Fashion Sustainability and Social Accountability Act (The Fashion Act). The coalition is currently engaging with policy and lawmakers, including State Senator Alessandra Biaggi who sponsored the act. Among other things, they are calling for the act to have more teeth whereby companies must perform not just report on due diligence, in line with the UN Guiding Principles and OECD guidelines.
