    Nine global textile bodies demand responsible purchasing

    DHAKA – In an unprecedented move, textile and garment sector trade bodies from six different countries have issued a joint statement calling on brands to follow responsible purchasing practices. The move comes amid rampant order cancellations and discounting across global apparel supply chains.

    Nine trade bodies from Bangladesh, Pakistan, Myanmar, Cambodia, China and Vietnam – highly unlikely bedfellows in ordinary circumstances – have called on brands and retailers to first and foremost “honour the terms of purchasing contracts, fulfil obligations, and not re-negotiate price or payment terms.”
