GENEVA – New guidelines have been published to tackle gender-based violence in global fashion supply chains. The guidelines have been launched to coincide with this week’s International Labour Organisation conference in Geneva which aims to create a global standard on women’s labour rights. Authors of the guidelines claim that apparel brand CSR and other NGO initiatives are failing to properly tackle rampant gender-based violence in Asian garment supply chains. “Brands must move beyond current approaches because they are not working,” say the authors.
