BRUSSELS – Members of the European Parliament have this week adopted proposals by the European Commission to better prevent and reduce waste from textiles across the EU. MEPs adopted their first reading position on the proposed revision of the Waste Framework with 514 votes in favour, 20 against and 91 abstentions.
The changes could pave the way for more ambitious waste-reduction targets and the creation of Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) for the use and disposal of textiles.
