BRUSSELS – A new report by the International Trade Union Confederation (ITUC) presents evidence of violations of workers’ rights in Bangladesh in three major economic sectors, including ready-made garment and leather production. The report, which accuses the Bangladeshi government of inaction on worker rights issues, was released ahead of the government’s latest progress report to the ILO Governing Body. It includes interviews with workers in October and November 2021.

Labour rights abuses documented include unfair labour practices, anti-union discrimination, unsafe workplaces, violence against workers and non-payment of wages and benefits.
