AMSTERDAM – Amid continued evidence that brands are failing to pay for orders which have already been placed, the International Apparel Federation has warned that, “choices made now will be scrutinised later.” In a clear dig at brands operating sharp business practice, IAF secretary general Matthijs Crietee has called for “supply chain solidarity,” suggesting that operating, “with the objective of moving as much of the pain upstream in the supply chain will create breaches of trust that will be difficult to repair when we emerge from this crisis.”

The IAF also pointed to startling figures from Germany where offline fashion retail’s sales in the first three weeks of March dropped by 42 per cent compared to the same period the year before.
