STOCKHOLM – The president and CEO of H&M, Karl-Johan Persson, has warned of the “terrible social consequences” of ditching fast fashion. In an interview with the Independent newspaper, he claimed there are better ways to tackle climate change than reducing consumption, such as, “environmental innovation, renewable energy, improved materials.” He suggested his business would, “continue to focus very much on the environmental issue, but have an open discussion about what the solution is.”
