LONDON – A one-hour webinar in December will offer fashion and textile industry executives access to world class expertise on potentially hazardous chemicals in clothing. The webinar, taking place on 13 December, will focus on PFAS (Per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances), also known as the ‘forever chemicals’.

The webinar is organised by Eurofins Softlines, Leather, Toys & Hardlines. Interested parties can register HERE

Five expert speakers will offer an overview of PFAS chemicals and their use. They will also update delegates on key legislative developments in the EU and US. Delegates will have the opportunity to ask specific questions at the end.

PFAS chemicals have made global headlines in recent years and many governments are in the process of banning or regulating their use in apparel supply chains.

PFAS are a large chemical group of over 4,500 highly persistent synthetic chemicals. These functional chemistries are used in consumer products such as textiles and leather for clothing and footwear, as well as in non- stick cookware and in paints and construction materials.

Due to their persistence in the environment, PFAS chemicals can be easily transported, covering long distances away from the source of their release. PFAS chemicals are now omnipresent in ecosystems and are found in animals and humans, food, soil, and water.

The webinar will include:

  • An in-depth explanation of PFAS chemistry and its use in product supply chains
  • The main global legislative positions and updates (US and EU focus)
  • Testing solutions that can help cleanse supply chains of these forever chemicals and first-hand knowledge sharing

The webinar is offered in two different timeslots with the same content. A recording of the webinar will be available to registrants on-demand after the session.
