NEW YORK – US fast fashion brand Forever 21 has been slammed for using an anti-fast fashion artist’s image to promote its clothing on Instagram. The image depicts a label reading: “I probably won’t wear this dress again because it’s already on my Instagram.” Forever 21 also added the caption: “Now, let’s be honest here,” suggesting the business supported the sentiment behind the label. However, the label was actually ironic – it was created by Elizabeth Illing who, as a fashion student, started questioning her desire to work in the industry. She said she was shocked a fashion brand “would openly make light of the disposable garment culture.”
