BERLIN – The renewable energy commitments of some of the world’s leading fashion companies lack ambition and credibility, new research claims. H&M, Nike, Lululemon, Inditex and Gap were found to have supply chain renewable energy strategies of poor or moderate integrity and transparency.
The research by the New Climate Institute also found that standard-setting initiatives such as the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) provide limited incentives and sometimes even barriers to companies striving for better renewable electricity strategies.
