MADRID – Around 30 Extinction Rebellion activists glued themselves to the front of a Zara store in Madrid this week in protest at greenwashing by the global fashion industry. They held banners saying Green words, toxic truth’ outside Zara which is part of Inditex group – the world’s largest fashion retailer – to highlight their claim that corporates are using greenwashing strategies in the face of the climate and ecological emergency. The activists claim Zara was chosen as it is “attempting to greenwash with its window displays that ‘demonstrate’ its social commitment to the motto of COP 25: ’Time to act’.”
