BRUSSELS – The European Commission has launched a formal investigation into online retail platform Temu, exploring whether it has breached the EU’s Digital Services Act (DSA). The probe centres on concerns about illegal product sales, potentially “addictive service design,” content recommendation transparency, and data accessibility for researchers. These areas of investigation echo concerns previously raised about Temu’s main competitor, Shein, which similarly faces scrutiny as a major online retailer in the European market.
