WASHINGTON – US wholesale business, Costco, has been named as the retailer attempting to import apparel products allegedly made using forced labour in China. Reports recently that US Customs and Border Protection had placed detention orders on goods imported from five countries in one day based on allegations that people producing the items might be children, or adults subjected to forced labour.
CBP did not release information about the companies that were importing the goods, but the Associated Press has now tracked items to several buyers, including Costco.
