DHAKA – Peacocks, Jaeger and other brands of British billionaire businessman Philip Day will be blacklisted from Bangladesh unless they pay outstanding debts to suppliers. Bangladesh Garments Manufacturing and Exporters Association (BGMEA) has written to Day, who resides in Switzerland and heads up Edinburgh Woollen Mills (EWM), warning him to settle his bills by 29 May or face a complete embargo on doing business in the country.
The extreme step comes after dozens of complaints from suppliers that EWM, the parent company of Peacocks and several other brands, was stonewalling all contact from suppliers it owes money to for orders going back months.
