DHAKA – The Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD), an influential Bangladeshi think tank, has called for the minimum wage for garment workers to be more than doubled to BDT 17,568 (US$160) a month. The request comes amid soaring inflation in Bangladesh which has eroded the spending power of garment workers and left them unable to afford some everyday essentials.
