DHAKA – Just 100 out of 1688 ready-made garment factories covered by the Bangladesh Accord have so far been handed over to Remediation Coordination Cell (RCC) of the Bangladeshi Government having completed all their remedial works. The figures, released this week, illustrate why many civil society organisations, as well as apparel brands and retailers, are seriously concerned that the Bangladesh Accord could soon be told to leave the country, when a proper handover is far from complete.
