DHAKA – The work of the Bangladesh Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh has this week been handed over to the RMG Sustainability Council (RSC). The RSC, which includes representation from brands, unions and RMG manufacturers, will initially conduct workplace safety programmess at the 1600+ RMG factories covered under the Accord, however, the goal is to eventually cover all RMG exporting garment factories.
The RSC’s work will include factory inspections, remediation monitoring, safety training and an independent safety & health complaints mechanism available to workers in RMG factories.
