NEW YORK – Less than a fifth of apparel shoppers are willing to pay more for environmentally-friendly apparel, according to a detailed survey. The consumers most willing to pay up for sustainably produced apparel are H&M shoppers, while Amazon and Walmart shoppers are the least willing to pay more, researchers found. The same survey found that Amazon has now become the US’s most shopped clothing and footwear retailer, overtaking Target and Walmart. 60 per cent of more than 1500 respondents said they had bought clothing or footwear on Amazon, versus less than half last year.
