VENICE – When it comes to fibre choice, wool is our best bet for the planet – this was the standout message from the 88th congress of the International Wool Textile Organisation (IWTO) which concluded last week in Venice, Italy. Livia Firth, co-founder and creative director of Eco-Age was among speakers at the event, where she told delegates, “the time for wool is now,” while highlighting the negative environmental impact of plastic and synthetic fibres. More than 320 delegates, representing all stages of the global wool textile pipeline, attended the annual three-day event.
